Individual Courses
8-week Courses
Join us in this revised version of our Figure Drawing & Anatomy class to include demonstrations on applying what you learn from life drawing to your character designs. In this new course, we’ll be studying from human anatomy directly, but we’ll also talk about exaggeration and translating a realistic drawing style to varying levels of stylization, making it all the more relevant for applying to the medium of animation.
This course is a hybrid format, allowing for both interactive experiences directly with the instructor, as well as time to work on assignments on your own. There will be demonstrations, feedback, and a private Group Discord to share your work and discuss the assignments, share resources, and grow together between classes.

Traditional materials encouraged — Life drawing pad + board OR large sketchbook. We encourage a variety of drawing materials for the stylization portion of this class, but conté (compressed charcoal) is encouraged for the life drawing component
We estimate between 4-12 hours of homework per week, depending on availability and your desire for depth in the learning.

This course will take you through a variety of different creative processes surrounding the creation of a (very) short film, so that you can become better acclimatized to many parts of the animation pipeline — not just isolating one skill alone. Our goal with this class is to teach you to become your own filmmaker — to help you become comfortable exploring each part of the process from storyboarding, to editing, to making a rough sound effects track, to adding finishing compositing touches in After Effects or Da Vinci.
This course is a hybrid format, allowing for both interactive experiences directly with the instructor, as well as time to work on assignments on your own. There will be demonstrations, feedback, and a private Group Discord to share your work and discuss the assignments, share resources, and grow together between classes.

A variety of software will be used through this course; but there are also a variety of free or affordable options.

This course will take you through the ins and outs of creating concept artwork based on your story. It will begin with a variety of worldbuilding exercises, and then you'll learn the basic shape and design fundamentals. From there, you’ll progress to designing props and a location for your world, and then finish the course by creating a digital painting of story moment with a focus on the environment design.
This course is a hybrid format, allowing for both interactive experiences directly with the instructor, as well as time to work on assignments on your own. There will be demonstrations, feedback, and a private Group Discord to share your work and discuss the assignments, share resources, and grow together between classes.

You’ll need traditional drawing and painting materials (pen and ink, gouache, watercolour, etc.) AND/OR digital drawing and painting tools (Photoshop, Krita, Clip Studio Paint, Procreate, etc.)

Mentorships
How do mentorships differ from our other programming? Mentorships are extremely customized to each and every student’s specific needs, and the homework schedule is fluid as you progress through your mentorship. You select however many sessions you’d like with each of us. Additionally, we’ll pair you with the tutor that we feel would suit you best, and your personal mentorship may involve multiple tutors as well.

We love working together with our students! While you’ll see only one of us at a time for your homework review sessions, you will get a nice wide range of training by working with each one of us.
Since you’ll receive homework from each of us, we require you to sign up for a minimum of 12 sessions to have enough time with each of the tutors we select for you.

The times available for you to book your feedback sessions change slightly throughout the year, but generally correspond a 9am - 5pm EST (Toronto time) schedule.
This schedule is somewhat flexible on a case-by-case basis, but we prefer that our student highly prioritize these sessions over other extra-curricular opportunities.
If you’d like to arrange a customized time to have your work reviewed, please contact us about your availability. 99% of the time we can find a mutually agreeable time.
