The Animation Foundations Bundle

Fall 2026 - Summer 2027 Year

Welcome to our Animation Foundations Bundle!

This annual program is for anyone that is eager to get their feet wet with some early training and exercises that will build your artistic skills prior to enrolling in our annual Complete Animation Portfolio Bundle, which is typically taken the year that student’s are going to be making their portfolios for application to Colleges and Universities.

The goal of this program, on the other hand, is to help you develop some of the foundational skills you need before even beginning your portfolio for Colleges.

So who is this Bundle for?

  • Grade 10 or 11 students (or students that are 1 to 2 years away from their College and University applications for animation)*

  • Early artists who are simply looking to improve their skills across a wide spectrum of drawing and animation-related studies*

* - However, there is no age limit to applying. There is however, an age minimum of 14 to be able to enroll in this program. The average age is between 14 - 18.

When?

Our Animation Foundations Bundle begins each year in October. It spans the entire school year, except September, when students are just typically settling in to their new school year.

October to late May, with a break over the holidays in mid-December.

This Bundle of courses is designed to be taken alongside a busy school year, with scalable-levels of homework and attendance (more on this later).

What does the Base Bundle it consist of?

  • 17 x Instructed Life Drawing Sessions (1 every other week).

  • 17 x 1-Hour Lectures from a wide variety of current animation students about how you can build your skills effectively (1 every other week).

  • 30 x Workshop Classes (1 every week) that will vary in subject from a wide range of incredible animation-related exercises. Some may build on previous weeks, but some will be standalone workshops.

  • Access to all of our Video Courses during the 8 month span (4-Week and 8-Week Courses; 35+ hours of video content), to assist with learning things like perspective drawing, figure drawing, character design, and making an object animation.

Every lecture, life drawing, and feedback session is recorded for any student who isn’t able to attend live on Zoom.

Are there opportunities for feedback?

There are two upgrade options for those interested in having direct feedback on their work.

Option 1 - Group Feedback Upgrade

With the Group Feedback version of this Bundle, there will be bi-weekly feedback sessions (1-3 hours in length, depending on how much artwork is submitted for review) to have your artwork reviewed.

Option 2 - One-on-One Feedback Upgrade

With the One-on-One Feedback version of this Bundle, you’ll get 15 feedback sessions to schedule with any of our animation tutors. You can use these 16 feedback sessions whenever you like over the 8 month span — enough for 2 per month.

Why take this program?

Our Complete Animation Portfolio Bundle has been serving the needs of so many students across the world, but we realized there was still a need from many of our younger students to get started sooner. The demands of College and University animation portfolios continues to be very difficult for so many, so we hope that this program fills in gaps left from many high-school art programs.

One of the best things about this program is that you’ll be studying a wonderful variety of animation students that were successful in their College and University portfolios, and are currently studying it, or even working in the field of animation. These students know how competitive these programs are, and they know what skills you need to practice from an early age to excel later when you’re making your portfolio.

We are always happy to see younger students who are eager and want to get started as soon as possible, so we have created this program for them (or maybe you!).

Feel free to book a Discovery Call with us to hear about how this program will work.

A group of artists and an actress in a scene from a play or film, with the actress gesturing and the artists sketching or drawing her, some with notes and coffee, capturing her expressive moments.

What will the weekly schedule look like?

Flexibility

All of these sessions will occur in the evening EST to accommodate North American and some western European time zones, however, ALL sessions will be recorded and be viewable anytime the student is able to review it. It is ideal for those that are currently attending high-school, College, University, or those who work during the day.

If your time zone won’t allow you to be live with us, you can still submit your artwork for the Live Group Feedback Sessions prior to the start time, and it will still be reviewed during the recorded session even if you’re not able to be present.

    Q&As

    • Yes! Please refer to the costs provided for each program option above to see the maximum # of payments we accept for each version of this program.

We do not charge any additional cost to pay with a payment plan.

Contact us below to arrange your payment plan.

    • This is our most frequently asked question, and our answer is always: we cannot guarantee anything, but what we can do is:

      • give you consistent feedback on your artwork

      • keep your work schedule on track

      • give you a sense of accountability

      • answer any questions you have along the way

      • give you an accurate sense of what is expected of you as a candidate to be accepted

      • encourage you to meet our fellow students, who you might eventually be friends with in the program!

We also don't make guarantees because you are the critical ingredient in this equation. Do you do the assigned work on time? Do you ask questions? Do you show up with more than asked? Etc.

Your passion, and your hard-work are what guarantee you opportunities in life. 😊

    • If you miss a class, whether it is a lecture, or a group feedback session, no problem! Everything is recorded online during the Zoom calls, and is then uploaded for all to view afterwards.

If you do not submit any work to be reviewed during the Group Feedback Session, or during the Life Drawing class critique, you will miss this opportunity. However, it is still extremely valuable to view others’ artworks receiving feedback, and we encourage all of our enrolled students to watch recorded feedback sessions whether they submitted work for review or not.

    • We have written a blog post on this subject exactly! Please read it here.

    • You can email us via our contact page, or you can simply book a call with us to chat on Zoom.

If you would like to send us samples of your work to see what we'd recommend, you can email hello @ theanimationtutor.com (without the spaces).
